Large party at Mother’s Beach draws L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept.

Mother’s Beach in Marina del Rey is normally a very tranquil site used mostly by parents with kids, and boaters. On Sunday, June 9, 2013, however, a crowd of around 300 young adults gathered there responding to an online Twitter invitation to a “Blankets and Bottles” party. Shortly after 6pm, the crowd became unruly and the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department was called to the scene, some of them in riot gear. No injuries or arrests were reported and an hour later everything was under control.
