At their most recent meeting on March 23, 2015, the Committee decided that, in addition to the 16 Walkie-Talkies they have already distributed to Block Captains, covering the Malls and Roma Court, they will request that the Board to purchase 6 more for the rest of the co-captains in case some are away. If approved, the Committee will hold another practice session with all Block Captains. Richard Cervantes will coordinate with 2 ham radio operators who are Silver Strand homeowners. The latter will have the capability of connecting Block Captains directly to City of Los Angeles emergency services on channel 2. Bill Boyd is the contact person coordinating with the City.
The Committee is also preparing an emergency contact information sheet for homeowners which can be filled out online and sent directly to to the Committee. All information provided will be confidential. More information to follow.
